හින්දු සහ බෞද්ධ විශ්ව විද්යාවට අනුව, ඉන්ද්ර දෙවියන් යනු නැගෙනහිර දිශාවට අධිපති දෙවියාය. 'ඉඳුරුනි' යනු එම මංගල්යවත් නැගෙනහිර දිශාවේ වෙසෙන තැනැත්තිය යන අරුත දෙන ඉතා අලංකාර සිංහල නාමයකි.
In Hindu and Buddhist cosmology, Lord Indra is the guardian deity of the East. The name Induruni beautifully refers to a female who resides in or belongs to this auspicious direction of dawn and light.
